Advanced Custom Fields
ACF project experience includes custom editing interfaces for client content. AdventureSmith’s five-year engagement included new custom blocks and ACF handlers; Ares uses reusable ACF-backed blocks within its SWAYZE rebuild.
Where the engineering matters
A reusable frontend section needs a matching backend contract: field structure, content relationships, and rendering must agree. The work includes the handler that turns an editor’s saved values into the correct page output, not merely registering an empty group of fields.
Work represented in the portfolio
- AdventureSmith custom blocks and editing handlers
- Ares reusable blocks and structured configuration
- ACF-backed content structures in agency/subcontract work for Fortinet
These controls sit within the client’s WordPress theme. Their value is practical: give editors recognizable fields for the content the site actually renders. Original agency creative direction remains credited in the relevant project.
ACF project experience: planning a similar project
The useful starting point for editor improvements is a real publishing task. Describe what the editor changes, what must remain consistent and which content is reused elsewhere. ACF fields and rendering handlers can then be considered together. The portfolio examples support that relationship; adding more fields by itself would not establish that the resulting workflow is easier to use.
