Manned

Drupal migration experience at Online Nevada Encyclopedia involved moving an existing publishing website into a custom managed server environment. The retained migration repository includes the Drupal application and its supporting publishing stack.

Where the engineering matters

The contribution was the migration and hosting environment. The encyclopedia’s content and established frontend already existed and remained part of the publication’s own identity.

Work represented in the portfolio

  • Migration of the existing publishing platform
  • Configuration of its supporting server environment
  • Preservation of the established frontend
  • Continuing hosting responsibility documented in the case study

This is infrastructure work around Drupal, not a claim that Duffion designed the original encyclopedia or rebuilt its editorial system. The case study and screenshot identify the publication supported by the migration.

Drupal migration experience: planning a similar project

A publishing-site migration brief should distinguish the content and frontend that must remain familiar from the hosting components that are changing. The Online Nevada engagement illustrates that boundary around an established publication.

Plan a hosting move around a recoverable publication

For an existing Drupal publication, inventory the database, uploaded files, configuration and customized software before planning a move. Drupal’s backup guidance identifies these components and recommends checking that a backup can restore the site. A copied database alone does not capture everything needed to reproduce the publication.

Agree when editors must pause changes and which environment holds the authoritative content during the transition. Choose representative articles, images, search paths and editorial tasks for verification, then assign responsibility for the launch decision and recovery plan. These checks help define infrastructure acceptance while keeping the publication’s existing identity intact. Online Nevada documents that kind of infrastructure scope; it does not attribute the original design or editorial system to Duffion.
