Native Android
Android project experience at Access Event Solutions includes my contribution to Mission Control’s native badge-scanning capability. This event-management application work belongs to an employment and collaborative product-development engagement.
Where the engineering matters
The scanning contribution was part of a larger event-management system. The portfolio separates that application work from the marketing website, much of which I also built while working at Access Event Solutions.
Work represented in the portfolio
- Native Android badge-scanning contribution
- Participation in Mission Control application development
- Related marketing-site and product presentation work
The case study brings the marketing and application work together while preserving the collaborative nature of Mission Control’s development.
Android project experience: planning a similar project
For a mobile scanning workflow, begin with the staff task and the system that consumes the result. Identify the event context, the item being scanned and the point where a person needs feedback. Mission Control connects this contribution to a wider event-management application.
For a new project or changes to an existing system, explore ongoing website and software development.
Evaluating a mobile workflow on real devices
Before commissioning an Android feature, list the devices staff will use and the interruptions they encounter. For example, a person may switch apps halfway through a task or return after the operating system stops an activity. Android’s activity lifecycle documentation explains those state changes. Your acceptance examples should say what information remains available when the person returns.
For a scanning workflow, also define the feedback staff need after a scan, how they correct a mistake and who owns the receiving record. Test those steps with representative devices and authorized sample data. These questions help scope a future engagement; the Access Event Solutions case above records my specific collaborative contribution.
