Online Nevada

Completed Other

The result

The Online Nevada Encyclopedia moved to a maintained server environment with ongoing infrastructure support.

The challenge

A site needed to be moved onto a custom, properly-configured server environment, infrastructure work rather than a new front-end build.

What shipped

A custom server migration onto a Duffion-managed environment. The site, the Online Nevada Encyclopedia, a publication of Nevada Humanities, now runs on a properly-configured, maintained stack.

  • Existing-site server migration
  • Custom hosting-environment configuration
  • Maintained publishing infrastructure
  • Preservation of the established frontend

The Online Nevada server migration moved Nevada Humanities’ existing encyclopedia into a Duffion-managed hosting environment. This case documents infrastructure work around the established publication.

Moving the publishing platform behind the encyclopedia

The Online Nevada Encyclopedia is a Nevada Humanities publication. This engagement focused on moving its existing website into a custom Duffion-managed server environment, while preserving the encyclopedia’s established frontend.

Infrastructure as the delivered work

The website’s content and public identity already existed. My contribution was the server migration and the configuration of the environment supporting that publication. The work supported an established publication and its existing editorial material.

The resulting environment provides the maintained stack on which the publication runs. The live screenshot identifies the publication served by the migration.

A continuing operating responsibility

The project combines the initial move with management of the hosting environment. It is an example of taking responsibility for the system behind a content-heavy public resource while preserving the established website above it.
