PurpleAir
PurpleAir integration experience includes AQInfo, the plugin that brought local readings from a configurable sensor into Tahoe Expedition Academy’s WordPress website. The school used the delivered widget for about five years.
Where the engineering matters
Retrieval and display had separate responsibilities. Scheduled requests stored a cached reading, and the widget or navigation placement displayed that stored value. A page visit therefore did not need to perform a fresh external sensor lookup.
Work represented in the portfolio
- Configurable sensor selection
- Scheduled retrieval and cached readings
- WordPress widget and navigation display
- Air-quality reading and status presentation
The historical website rebuild and its AQInfo integration are documented separately below. The school has since changed platforms; these cases preserve the website and integration work delivered during that earlier engagement.
PurpleAir integration experience: planning a similar project
A sensor-display brief should explain which reading is needed and how visitors can understand its freshness. Retrieval timing and page display are separate decisions. AQInfo illustrates scheduled collection and display of a stored reading.
